Articles from periodicals (magazines, journals, and newspapers) are great sources for both very current and very specialized information, which usually doesn't appear in books.
Periodical articles are not listed in ALICE, however. To find them you will need to use article databases. The two databases listed below are great starting points for almost any topic:
- Academic Search Complete
- Academic Search Complete has citations and abstracts (summaries) of articles from more than 8,000 magazines and journals. Online full-text is included for most of these periodicals. You can print or e-mail articles to yourself directly from the database.
If you do not see the full text online, you may be able to locate the complete article article by following the "Find a Copy" link in the database.
-
- Other Databases
- If you don't find what you're looking for in Academic Search Complete, there are lots of other choices. You can view InfoTree's list of article databases arranged by subject or Ask a Librarian!.
