This work provides standard abbreviations for 12,000 journals dealing with plants, as well as approximately 12,000 non-standard abbreviations for those same titles found in other works. For non-standard abbreviations, reference is given to the standard abbreviation and from that to the full title.

The supplement is a partial revision of the original and expands coverage to 25,000 titles.

Another useful source for earlier titles that is more general is World List of Scientific Periodicals, 1900-1960.
