Full text of some 1200 plays written from the mid-1800s to the present by more than 200 playwrights from North America, English-speaking Africa, the Caribbean, and other African diaspora countries.

Entries are clustered under three historical groupings (North America, 1840s-1950s; North America, 1960s-1990s, and African and Caribbean Drama, 20th Century)and may be accessed via keyword and/or multi-field searching. Many of these works have never before been published and others are either rare or no longer in print.

The plays are accompanied by reference materials, significant ancillary information, a rich performance database, and images.
