eHRAF Archaeology [former title: eHRAF Collection of Archaeology]   Full-Text
(Human Relations Area Files: Collection of Archaeology)
Access Info: Ohio U. - all campuses (including off-campus access)

Provides access to a growing, web-based database with information on the prehistory of the world. Dissertations, books, and articles are included. The Collection gives researchers access to archaeological materials for comparative studies within and across regions. Major archaeological traditions, such as the Maya in Mesoamerica and the Dawnkou in China, are included.

The subject retrieval system allows a searcher to employ concepts in addition to keywords. The full-text sources are numerically indexed at the paragraph level to enhance retrieval. For instance, a searcher can use the code, "753" to retrieve information on illness causation instead of searching by keyword. Using the subject codes permits a searcher to find information in foreign language sources as well.

For those using or teaching the database online guides are available.HRAF User Guide and Tutorials.
