The subject retrieval system allows a searcher to employ concepts in addition to keywords. The full-text sources are numerically indexed at the paragraph level to enhance retrieval. For instance, a searcher can use the code, "753" to retrieve information on illness causation instead of searching by keyword. Using the subject codes permits a searcher to find information in foreign language sources as well.
For those using or teaching the database online guides are available.HRAF User Guide and Tutorials.
