Listed below is a collection of pre-War documents and source materials purchased from the Library of Congress. Many are in Japanese. You will need to browse. In most cases, checking ALICE (click on the call numbers below) will display more content information.

  • Foreign affairs' documents / Gaimusho, 1914-1945, a collection of confidential documents originally issued separately. (6 rolls microfilm, Micro Coll JX953 .A5 1970.)

  • Gaimusho genson kiroku mokuroku / Gaimusho Daijin Kanbo Bunshoka (10 vols). (3 rolls microfilm, Micro Coll JX1852 .A4 1947.)

  • Pre-war Japanese government materials. A collection of governmental documents originally issued separately, 1920-1945. (5 rolls microfilm, Micro Coll JQ1631 .P74 1970.)

  • Materials concerning Japanese labor problems. A collection of reports originally issued by Naimusho Keihokyoku, etc., 1917-1939. (9 rolls microfilm, Micro Coll HD5427 .A6 1969.)

  • Japan. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Records 1868-1945, S - Series. A few rolls from the archives of Showa documents deal with the condition of Americans in Japanese prisoner of war camps. (Microfilm, reels 338; 579-583; 586, Micro Coll D805.J3 A684 1940a.)

  • Japanese monographs ; Japanese studies on Manchuria (China) ; Japanese night combat study. Written by former officers of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy, 1945-1960, translated and edited by the Military History Section of Headquarters, U. S. Army Forces Far East. (18 reels microfilm & printed guide, Micro Coll/SEA D767.2 .J37 1980x.)

  • Japanese Police Intelligence reports / Naimusho Keihokyoku. Check ALICE for contents. A collection of confidential documents originally issued by Naimusho Keihokyoku, 1910-1945. (3 rolls microfilm, Micro Coll HV7826 .A6 1968.)
