Lexi-PALS Drug Guide Access Info: Ohio U. - all campuses (including off-campus access)
a database of Patient Advisory Leaflets from Lexi-Comp that provides vital education on medications for patients. The approach for each pamphlet is to present each medication in an easy to follow and understand question-and-answer format. The leaflets are designed in a manner that supports successful patient education in both the hospital and outpatient setting. Additional aspects of Lexi-PALS include the incorporation of guidelines from the FDA's Guidance on Useful Written Consumer Medicine Information; content is reviewed and updated continuously based on surveillance results; side effects are clearly defined; monitoring recommendations are provided; the pharmacologic category of each drug is identified; and information on how the drug works (mechanism of action) is also made available. Additional information specific to each medication includes pronunciation; U.S./Canadian/Mexican brand names; key warnings before taking the drug; how it is best taken; precautions when taking; when a healthcare provider should be called and proper storage. The database consists of over 1,450 medication and natural product leaflets, with an additional 600 Spanish language leaflets representing the most subscribed and commonly used medications.
